As the old saying goes “A person’s home is his castle” and by all accounts that is definitely how you should feel towards your home, it should bring you joy to merely be inside of your property and know that you own this securely. After all, you probably went to great financial, legal and personal lengths to get the property in the first place, not to mention the whole buying process and meeting with real estate agents and lawyers to ensure that everything was done above board. So with all of that said why would you then take your foot off the gas figuratively speaking and let your house fall into a state of either disrepair or get to the point where it is a horribly outdated and uncomfortable to the point where you would rather not use that room? Doesn’t sound like too much of a castle does it?
If you are at that point where you would rather just give up and call it a day with that room then fear not, there are many different ways that you can space up and reimagine even the drabbest and hideously out of fashion room into a comfortable, inviting and altogether better looking place that you would actually consider spending time in. So rather than actively avoiding certain rooms in your house because you can’t stand the décor or it is uncomfortable, bite the bullet and get something done about it in order to reclaim your house again. But really, what kind of things can turn a down and out look into one of the showcase areas of your house? There are a few ways to do this and you may keep reading to find out more about them.
Overhaul the furniture
So maybe the thing that is stopping you from using that one room is how uncomfortable and ugly the furniture you have in that room is, after all sofas, beds and chairs are really the things that tie the walls and other decorations that you have in the room into the center of the room’s personality and if the furniture is either clashing with the room it is in or it is just in a state of disrepair, with lumpy and rock hard cushions on them, which have become ingrained with dust that has become so deeply ingrained within the fabric that the only thing that seems to dislodge any of it really is a good hard thump with the palm of your hand, which is not only disgusting but also very unhealthy.
So why not take this as an opportunity to take away some of these hideous pieces and source some attractive, clean and comfortable new furniture that not only suits the room it is in but also provides the adequate levels of comfort and support that you decide. The decision to let your furniture fall into disrepair means not only will you end up suffering in terms of the comfortableness of the chair but improper support while sitting down can cause an arched back which if sustained for a long period of time can actually cause sciatica and a number of other chiropractic problems.
Get the rooms repainted
This may sound like a slightly obvious suggestion and we agree, this should be an obvious way to overhaul and inject a little bit of life into an otherwise floundering area of the house. However you would be shocked at the amount of people who will sit there complaining about how bad the room looks but never put two and two together and actually get around to painting the room and making a difference to it. Whether that’s because they feel their finances won’t cover it right there and then or because it simply sounds like too much hard work and they are complacent. Either way, with that kind of attitude, you can guarantee that the room will not improve in the slightest.
So get the painters in to plan and prepare your room for a nice new coat of paint, decide on some colours that not only suit the furniture and tone of the room that you want to create but also ties in with the rest of the decorations inside your home.
